CSUN Falls at Ranked UCSB in Road Finale

SANTA BARBARA, Calif.---CSUN Women's Tennis dropped a 6-1 decision at No. 53 UC Santa Barbara on Saturday at Arnhold Tennis Center. Angela Ho gave CSUN's lone victory of the day while the Gauchos collected the doubles point and pulled out a trio of three-set decisions en route to taking the match.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Gauchos picked up their first doubles win at No. 3 with Anna Weissheim and Carla Pacot defeating Ho and Elena Goodman 6-1. UCSB then clinched the doubles point with a victory at No. 2 with Lucy Lu and Camille Kiss knocking off Victoria Santibañez Luna and Cindy Ung 6-0. In an unfinished match, Amelia Honer and Kira Reuter led Sasha Turchak and Yuliia Zhytelna 4-3 before the match was called.
Ho opened up singles play with a straight set win at No. 5 by defeating Lu 6-0, 6-2. The Gauchos got another point at No. 1 with Honer beating Turchak in straight sets 6-0, 6-1. At No. 2, Kiss held off Zhytelna 6-0, 4-6, 6-0 to put the Gauchos on the brink of a win. The match would be decided at No. 3 where Tyra Richardson won a pair of tight sets to defeat Santibañez Luna 6-3, 6-4.
The other two singles matches would go to three sets with UCSB rallying from first set losses. At No. 3, Reuter beat Emma Moratalla Sanz 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (11-9) while Pacot rallied for a win over Goodman at No. 6 by a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 score.
