CSUN Drops Tight 4-3 Decision at Pacific

STOCKTON, Calif.---CSUN Women's Tennis dropped a close 4-3 decision at Pacific on Saturday afternoon at Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center. The Matadors won the doubles point and picked up two tight singles wins, but the Tigers pulled out a trio of three-set decisions en route to taking the match.
HOW IT HAPPENED
CSUN's tandem of Sasha Turchak and Yuliia Zhytelna posted a victory at No. 1 over Klara Kosan and Tomi Main (6-2) to open doubles play. The Matadors would secure the doubles point at No. 3 where Angela Ho and Elena Goodman defeated Liza Mladentseva and Indiya McLeod, 6-2. In an unfinished match, Victoria Santibañez Luna and Cindy Ung faced Alexis Sam and Milena Maiorova and led 4-3 when it was called.
In singles play, Kosan knocked off Turchak at No. 1 in straight sets 6-0, 6-4. CSUN would return the favor with a win at No. 3 where Santibañez Luna beat Mladentseva in straight sets 6-3, 6-3. From there, Goodman battled Zoe Clydesdale-Eberle in a three-set tiebreaker before Clydesdale-Eberle pulled out a 1-6, 6-2, 7-6 victory at No. 6. It would be another three-set thriller at No. 4 as Emma Moratalla Sanz rallied from a set one loss to beat McLeod 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.
The final two singles matches would each go to a three-set tiebreaker where the Tigers pulled out two nail biters. At No. 5, Maiorova outlasted Ho 4-6, 7-6, 7-6 before the Tigers clinched the match with Main beating Zhytelna 6-7, 7-6, 6-2.
