Mars, Crawford and 4x100 Relay Team Punch Tickets to NCAA Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.---CSUN wrapped up its stay at the 2024 NCAA Track & Field West First Round on Friday with three more tickets punched to the NCAA Championships.
Sprinters Chase Mars and James Crawford qualified in the 200m and the 100m events, respectively, while the 4x100 relay team also advanced to Eugene, Ore.
Mars would punch his ticket to the NCAA Championships by setting a school record in the 200m quarterfinals with a time of 20.25. His time was fourth overall in the 24-athlete field while he was first in his heat. Crawford placed 23rd in the same event with a time of 29.83.

In the 100m, Crawford advanced to the NCAA Championships after finishing 12th with a wind-aided time of 10.07. Mars also cracked the top-20 in the event with a time of 10.16 to place 20th overall.

CSUN's 4x100m relay team took 11th place to qualify as well for Eugene. The quartet of Tosh Black, Crawford, Shamil Youngblood and Mars ran a time of 39.48, good enough for second-best in school history.

Chris Pitts would also represent CSUN in the 400m quarterfinals where he ran a 46.69 to finish 22nd overall, missing the cut to the NCAA Championships.
In the triple jump, CSUN boasted two top-20 finishes with each just missing advancing to Eugene. Bryson Williams registered a new personal best mark of 15.49m (50-10) to place 17th overall. Dillon Peters was just behind in 18th place with a mark of 15.47m (50-9.25).

Along with Mars, Crawford and the 4x100 relay team, CSUN will also send Trey Knight, who qualified for the NCAAs in the hammer throw on Thursday by finishing in third place.
