Young Matadors 15th After 36 Holes at Palouse Collegiate

PULLMAN, Wash. - With four of the six-man team making their CSUN debut, the Matadors posted team rounds of 289-306 and are 15th after 36 holes Tuesday at the Palouse Collegiate at Palouse Ridge GC.

With a 36-hole score of 595, CSUN has some work to do in the final round to get back in contention. Utah (533) holds the team lead while the Utes' Sergio Ramirez is the individual leader at 13-under 129.

Individually, junior Domenic De Luca made his Matador debut and fired rounds of 68-76 to pace CSUN in a tie for 61st place. De Luca had five birdies in round one to finish at 3-under 68 before adding two more birdies in round two's 5-over 76. He opens Wednesday's final round at 2-over 144.

CSUN SCORES

Nick Fry and Liam Judkins are both tied for 81st at 8-over 150. Fry posted rounds of 76-74 while Judkins finished with rounds of 75-75.
Bryson Barnes, the third Matador in the lineup making his debut, is currently tied for 85th at 9-over 151 following rounds of 70-81.
Yuo Torii, competing as an individual, is 88th at 11-over 153 after posting scores of 73-80.
Dillon Jonke is currently 89th at 17-over 159 following rounds of 78-81.

"First tournament at this level for pretty much the entire team - except for Dillon and Liam - and there were some nerves. Playing Division I golf is a learning experience, but the first-day jitters are over and I expect a much better team round tomorrow. I know this team has talent and if this is the worst tournament we play all year, this will be a good learning experience for all the guys."

The Matadors will be paired with Gonzaga and Nevada for the final round which gets underway Tuesday morning beginning at 7:45 a.m.
