
Balanced Attack Leads CSUN to 3-0 Sweep Over UC Riverside

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. — CSUN women's volleyball delivered a dominant performance Friday night at Premier America Credit Union Arena, sweeping UC Riverside 3-0 (25-14, 25-22, 25-14) in Big West play.
The Matadors (11-7, 4-3 Big West) hit an efficient .306 as a team, powered by a balanced attack that saw five players record at least seven kills. Sophomore Hayley Ogden led the way with 10 kills, hitting .500 on 16 efficient swings. Leah Miller added nine kills (.269), two digs and a pair of blocks, while Iye Okolo was nearly perfect on the night, chipping in eight kills on nine errorless attacks to hit .889.
CSUN's two-setter duo of Katie Kolar (19 assists, three aces) and Jan Marie Duhaylungsod (14 assists, 15 digs) helped CSUN to 47 kills on 111 swings to hit .306. Libero Paige Sentes led all players with 16 digs, one match after going over 1,000 digs in her CSUN career. Defensively, CSUN out-blocked the Highlanders, 8.0-3.0, led by Tatiana Turgeon's five total blocks (two solo, three assists).
After rolling through the opening set 25-14, CSUN fended off a late Highlander push in the second to win 25-22, before closing the match emphatically in the third. The Matadors posted sideout percentages above 69% in all three sets and never trailed after the midway point of the opening frame.
UC Riverside (6-11, 2-5) was paced by Sophia Ewalefo, who tallied 10 kills, and Vanessa Imoh, who added eight. The Highlanders hit just .105 as a team against CSUN's steady blocking and floor defense.

- With 16 digs in the match, Sentes now has 1,019 digs in her CSUN career.
- Duhaylungsod notched her second double-double of the season and second in her last eight matches.
- CSUN improves to 66-23 all-time against UC Riverside and 33-6 all-time in matches in Northridge.

"It was a good bounce-back performance for the team. We emphasized the pride we have to have when we are at home and defend the home court. Service pressure was key and executing the game plan. Hopefully, we can carry over a great performance against a really good UC Davis team on Saturday."
