Soldwisch Closes in on Top 20, CSUN 9th at Rio Verde International

RIO VERDE, Ariz. - Freshman Ariya Soldwisch fired a 1-over 73 to move up 14 spots on the individual leaderboard to pace the CSUN women's golf team on Saturday at the Rio Verde Invitational at Rio Verde Country Club.
Soldwisch, who was tied for 36th at 3-over 75 after round one on Friday, carded four birdies in a round of 1-over 73 on Saturday. Soldwisch had a pair of birdies and five bogeys over her first 16 holes to sit at 3-over. She then birdied her final two holes of the day to drop to 1-over to finish the day tied for 22nd at 4-over 148.
After carding a team round of 302 on Friday, the Matadors followed up with another round of 302 on Saturday which moved them up two spots into ninth place in the 21-team field. CSUN (604) heads into Sunday's final round just seven shots out of the top five. Xavier (576) overtook first-round leaders California Baptist (579) to lead the team competition by three shots.

The Matadors will again be paired with Butler, Bowling Green, and Kennesaw State for the final round, which gets underway Sunday at 11 a.m.

- Following Soldwisch, Nicole Tanoue slipped to 35th at 7-over 151, following a 4-over 76 in round two. Tanoue, who had three birdies on Friday, had her lone birdie at No. 6 to get to 1-under on Saturday. She then finished 5-over on her remaining 12 holes to close out her round.
- Meghan Paracuelles and Kim Turgut, who were tied after 18 holes, remained tied for 66th at 11-over 155. Turgut, who was even through six holes, wound up with three birdies in a round of 7-over 79. Paracuelles added one birdie along with 11 pars, giving her 23 pars in the tournament, to also finish the day at 7-over 79.
- Gracie Piar posted CSUN's second-lowest round of the day, notching one birdie in a round of 2-over 74. Piar moved up from 94th into a tie for 72nd at 12-over 156.
