CSUN Track & Field Returns to Nevada for Wolf Pack Classic

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUN Track & Field embarks on the University of Nevada for the second time this season to compete at the Wolf Pack Classic. The two-day event will be held from Feb. 7-8 at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.

CSUN has entered in 25 total events between with 14 on the women's side and 11 on the men's side. Field events will kick off Friday at 10 a.m. followed by track events at 1 p.m. while Saturday's competition begins with field events at 10 a.m. and track events at 10:30 a.m.
On the CSUN women's team, the following Matadors have entered in events: Amani Britton, Treasure Brown, Sakura Divecchio, Savannah Ganter, Zola Grey, Leann Hamilton, Camryn Harris, Jasmine Haskell, Jocelyn Hoggard, Brianna Kelpis, Ami Jacobson, Myli Level, Elin Markarian, Marina McNeil-Vivanco, Ali Medina, Alba Moreno Paredes, Anna Negulic, Ashleigh Porter, Kaliyah Poston, Audrie Reuss, Katherine Shipp-Davis and Chandler Smith.
The following student-athletes will represent CSUN on the men's team: Thomas Achten, Layne Buck, Santiago Cerda, Tzu-TIng Chan, Tylor Connelly, James Crawford, Cesar Cuevas, Luke DaVanon, Daniel Harper, Elijah Ignacio, Francisco Isiordia, Guillermo Lopez, Jay Louison-Roe, Chase Mars, Gabe Martinez, Tibyasa Matovu, Joey Nations, Walter Pierce, Jayden Smith, Camilo Torres and Wyatt Wiggins, Jr.
LAST TIME OUT
CSUN claimed five first-place wins at the Nevada Invitational from Jan. 23-25. Senior Trey Knight had a historic day in the weight throw, posting a school record toss of 24.87m (81-7.25). That toss was charted as the best throw this season in the nation while historically it ranked as the third-best throw in collegiate history and eighth-best in world history.
Tibyasa Matovu won two individual events at the meet as he won the long jump with a PR leap of 7.48m (24-6.5) and claimed first in the 400m with the second-best time in school history at 46.91.
Matovu was also the last leg in the 4x400m relay team that took first place. Walter Pierce, Luke DaVanon, Wyatt Wiggins, Jr. and Matovu set a new school indoor record in the event with a time of 3:12.2.
Rounding out the Matador wins, Joey Nations was first in the 60m as he finished with a PR time of 6.87 in the finals.
On the women's side, Summer Mosley was second in the weight throw as she posted the third-best toss in school history of 19.55m (64-1.75). Kaliyah Poston also had a good showing in the 200m where she finished fifth by posting the fifth-best time in school history of 24.14.
UP NEXT
After this week's meet, CSUN will set its sights on the 2025 MPSF Championships, held at the Podium in Spokane, Wash. The two-day championships will be from Feb. 21-22.
