Tanoue Tied for the Lead, Matadors Alone in Fifth a Jackrabbit Invitational

BOULDER CITY, Nev. - Sophomore Nicole Tanoue is tied for first at 2-under 142 while the CSUN women's golf team is alone in fifth place after two rounds of the Jackrabbit Invitational on Monday at Boulder Creek Golf Club.
Tanoue is one of four players tied for the lead after firing consecutive rounds of 1-under 71. She had three birdies over her opening six holes and made the turn at 2-under in round one. Tanoue finished the back nine at 1-over to finish the round at 1-under 71. In the afternoon round, she finished the front nine at 1-over before adding three more birdies on the back nine to finish at 71.
With a season-best two-round total of 142, Tanoue heads into the final round tied with Piper Stubbs and McKenzie Mages of South Dakota State and Kathryn VanArragon of Weber State with a one-shot lead.
As a team, the Matadors carded rounds of 294-297 to finish the day in fifth place at 15-over 591. Host South Dakota State leads the team competition at 5-over 581, one shot clear of St. Thomas (582). A total of 15 teams are competing in the field.

The Matadors will be paired with North Dakota for the final round which gets underway Tuesday morning.

- Freshman Ariya Soldwisch is also in the top 15 through 36 holes after posting scores of 73-74. Soldwisch had a team-high eight birdies over the first two rounds, including five in round one, and is tied for 13th at 3-over 147.
- Kim Turgut is currently tied for 27th at 6-over 150 after carding scores of 72-78. Turgut had four birdies in the opening round, finishing the back nine at 1-under. She added three more birdies in round two but had to fight through three bogeys and a pair of double bogeys.
- Gracie Piar is tied for 36th at 8-over 152 after posting scores of 78-74 and Meghan Paracuelles rounded out the Matador scoring as she is tied for 71st at 18-over 162 following rounds of 80-82.
The Matadors will be paired with North Dakota for the final round which gets underway Tuesday morning.
