CSUN Back in Action This Weekend at Vince O'Boyle Track & Field Classic

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---The CSUN Men's and Women's Track & Field teams return to competition this weekend at the Vince O'Boyle Classic, hosted by UC Irvine from Friday to Saturday.
Friday's events consist of the long jump, hammer throw and javelin while Saturday will feature a full slate of track and field events.

CSUN Track & Field will be represented in 11 women's events and 10 men's events at the meet.
On the women's team, the following have entered events: Amani Britton, Treasure Brown, Zola Grey, Camryn Harris, Jasmine Haskell, Jocelyn Hoggard, Emily Hutchinson, Zoey Igbinigie, Danielle Irvin, Brianna Kelpis, Jaelyn Lee, Myli Level, Jayden Lopes, Marina McNeil-Vivanco, Ali Medina, Summer Mosley, Ada Murray, Anna Negulic, Alba Moreno Paredes, Ashleigh Porter, Audrie Reuss, Naomi Sachs, Chandler Smith and Simone Smith.
On the men's team, CSUN will send the following to the meet: Christopher Allen, Layne Buck, Santiago Cerda, Tzu-Ting Chan, Tylor Connelly, Luke DaVanon, Logan Davis, Jonrich Dela Cruz, Tui Edwin, Daniel Harper, Jeremiah Harris, Caleb Harrell, Elijah Ignacio, Ehinome Inegbenoise, Francisco Isiordia, Guillermo Lopez, Chase Mars, Gabe Martinez, Tibyasa Matovu, Joey Nations, Walter Pierce, Jay Louison-Roe, Jorge Romo, Jr., Jayden Smith, Jabari Vaughn, TJ Wiggins, Linkin Woolf and Shamil Youngblood.
LAST TIME OUT
CSUN claimed four first-place finishes at USC's Trojan Invitational last weekend from March 21-22. Senior thrower Trey Knight was victorious in his first meet of the outdoor season, taking first in the hammer throw as he set a school record and a Big West record with a toss of 77.91m (255-7). Junior Tibyasa Matovu won the men's 400m in his outdoor season debut, running at a time of 46.55. Other winners included junior Joey Nations winning the long jump with a mark of 7.53m (24-8.5). CSUN's women's team had a first-place finish in the high jump with Alba Moreno Paredes posting a mark of 1.66m (5-5.25).
KNIGHT CLAIMS THIRD CAREER BIG WEST HONOR
After a successful indoor season, Trey Knight wasted little time making history in his first outdoor meet last week. Knight's school record toss in the men's hammer throw garnered him his third career Big West Field Athlete of the Week award. His toss of 77.91m (255-7) currently leads the nation in the early weeks of the outdoor season.
MAKING A MARK
Following his victory at USC, Tibyasa Matovu holds the best men's 400m time in the Big West this season (46.55) while he ranks seventh overall in the nation. Joey Nations also is ranked second in the Big West and 10th in the nation in the men's long jump with his leap of 7.53m (24-8.5) at the Trojan Invitational.
A SUMMER DAY
Senior thrower Summer Mosley had a strong showing in her return to USC last week. The former Trojan finished fourth in the women's hammer throw with a PR toss of 61.71m (202-5). That toss was the second-best in school history and the best throw since 2017. Mosley's hammer throw mark is the best in the Big West thus far this season while it ranks 16th overall in the nation. She would also take fifth place in the discus at the Trojan Invitational last week with a throw of 48.77m (160-0).
UP NEXT
CSUN is scheduled to return to competition next weekend at two meets from April 4-5. Members of the team will compete at UC San Diego's Triton Invitational while others will compete at UNLV's Rebel Elite.
