Judkins Fires 1-under 71 in Second Round of Big West Men's Golf Championship

LA QUINTA, Calif. - Sophomore Liam Judkins fired a 1-under 71 in round two to move up 10 spots into a tie for 18th. At the same time, the CSUN Men's Golf posted a two-shot improvement from round one to round two but slipped into 11th after two rounds of the 2025 Big West Men's Golf Championship on Monday at La Quinta Country Club.
Judkins is the low Matadors through 36 holes after a 1-under 71 moved him up from 28th into a tie for 18th at 1-over 145. After posting just a single birdie in round one, Judkins had four birdies on Monday, three coming on the back nine. With one birdie and one bogey on his opening nine holes, Judkins made the turn at even-par. He then countered a pair of bogeys on the back nine with three birdies to finish the day at 1-under 71.
As a team, CSUN followed up an opening round 7-over 295 with a 5-over 293 in round two but slipped from a tie for seventh into 11th place at 17-over 588. Cal State Fullerton (559) continued to hold the team lead by three strokes over Long Beach State (562) heading into Tuesday's final round. The Beach's Krishnav Chopraa, who fired an opening round 9-under 63, carded a 6-under 66 to lead the individual competition by eight shots through two rounds.

"The conditions were perfect for good scoring today. We improved from round one yesterday, but just didn't get a fourth score to keep us near even-par. Tomorrow will be our last round of the year, so I hope the guys put together a good final round and build towards next season."

- Following Judkins, freshman Tavin Boman carded his second consecutive round of 1-over 73 to slip into a tie for 23rd at 2-over 146. Boman had one eagle, one birdie, two bogeys, and one double bogey on Monday to finish at 1-over 73 for the second straight day.
- Freshman Bryson Barnes matched Boman with an eagle at No. 13 while also adding a pair of birdies and four bogeys in a round of even-par 72. Barnes was 1-under through 15 holes before a bogey at No. 16 and two pars capped his even-par round. At 3-over 147, Barnes is currently tied for 30th.Â
- After opening the day tied for 20th, Domenic De Luca had two birdies, three bogeys, and a pair of double bogeys in a round of 5-over 77, which dropped him into a tie for 46th at 6-over 150.
- Freshman Nick Fry posted his second straight round of 5-over 77 to drop into a tie for 55th at 10-over 154.
