CSUN Sets Sights on Two Meets This Weekend

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---With the 2025 Big West Championships two weeks away, CSUN Track & Field sets its sights for another busy weekend with members of the team set to compete at the Steve Scott Invitational at UC Irvine (May 2-3) and at the Desert Heat Classic (May 3) in Tuscon, Ariz.

CSUN has entered the following on the men's team in events at the Steve Scott Invitational: Christopher Allen, Thomas Achten, Caden Bazo, Santiago Cerda, Tzu-Ting Chan, Tylor Connelly, Jonrich Dela Cruz, Alec Flores, Elijah Ignacio, Ehinome Inegbenoise, Francisco Isiordia, Darrick Jacob, Jr., Guillermo Lopez, Trey Knight, Ramiro Mateos, Diego Rodriguez, Jorge Romo, Jr., Jayden Smith, Elijah Stenberg, Camilo Torres, Jabari Vaughn, TJ Wiggins, Linkin Woolf.
Scheduled to make the trip on the women's team include Amani Britton, Treasure Brown, Sakura Divecchio, Savannah Ganter, Leann Hamilton, Jocelyn Hoggard, Emily Hutchinson, Zoey Igbinigie, Danielle Irvin, Ami Jacobson, Brianna Kelpis, Jaelyn Lee, Myli Level, Elin Markarian, Marina McNeil-Vivanco, Ali Medina, Summer Mosley, Ada Murray and Anna Negulic.

CSUN will take a smaller contingent to to Arizona's Desert Heat Classic. First on the men's team, the following have entered events: Logan Davis, Caleb Harrell, Jay Louison-Roe, Chase Mars, Gabe Martinez, Tibyasa Matovu, Joey Nations and Walter Pierce while on the women's team, the following are scheduled to compete: Zola Grey, Camryn Harris, Jasmine Haskell, Jayden Lopes, Alba Moreno Paredes, Naomi Sachs, Chandler Smith and Simone Smith.
LAST TIME OUT
CSUN is coming off a successful stay at the UC Santa Barbara Invitational last weekend from April 25-26 where Matador athletes posted five total victories across the men's and women's squads. The Matador women's team claimed three victories as Summer Mosley won the discus with the sixth-best toss in school history at 51.78m (169-10), Emily Hutchinson claimed first in the shot put with a toss of 14.11m (46-3.5) and Chandler Smith took first in the long jump with a PR of 6.11m (20-0.5). On the men's team, Joey Nations was first in the long jump with his leap of 7.58m (24-10.5), good enough for 10th in school history while he went on to win the 100m with a PR of 10.42.
LEADING THE BIG WEST
CSUN's men's 4x400m team currently leads the Big West on the conference's performance list this season. The Matador quartet of Walter Pierce, Logan Davis, Gabe Martinez and Tibyasa Matovu established a school record of 3:07.32 on April 4 at the UNLV Rebel ELITE as their time currently paces the conference. Senior Trey Knight tops the men's hammer throw list in the Big West and ranks third in the nation with his school record toss of 77.91m (255-7) at the Trojan Invite on March 21. On the women's side, Summer Mosley now leads the Big West in the discus with her PR throw this past week at UCSB (51.78m) while she also tops the hammer throw list with a mark of 61.71m (202-5), set at the Trojan Invite.
