Summah Hanson of UCI hit a game winning three-point basket with six seconds left to take the win. Saray White led all scorers with 23 points. Jite Gbemuotor snatched her eighth career double-double, with 12 points and 15 rebounds.
Â
vs UC Riverside 2/28
CSUN was defeated by the UC Riverside Highlanders, 70-61 at Premier America Credit Union Arena Saturday afternoon. Gbemuotor led the Matadors with 19 points and eight rebounds. Erika Aspajo was the second leading scorer with 11 points. Saray White, Morgan Edwards, and Rita Nazario all scored eight points. CSUN split the season series with UCR after previously winning in Riverside earlier this year.
Â
FIGHTING FOR THE EIGHTH SEED
CSUN is currently one game ahead for the eighth and final seed in the 2026 Credit Union 1 Big West Women's Basketball Championship, set for March 11-14 in Henderson, Nev. The Matadors have the fate of their tournament lives in their hands. If they win one of the final two games, and Long Beach State loses one of its final two games, the Matadors are in the tournament.
Â
OVER 200 REBOUNDS FOR JITE
Jite Gbemuotor has had a stellar season on the boards for the Matadors. She enters Thursday's game at 221 rebounds on the season. The last Matador to bring down at least 200 rebounds on the season was Kayanna Spriggs in 2023-24 who finished the year at 232. Gbemuotor's season high in rebounds is 16, which she has reached in games against Cal Poly on Feb. 5 and Bethesda on Nov. 4. She has also reached 15 twice in games versus UC Irvine (Feb. 26) and Cal Poly (Jan. 8).Â
Â
CRACKING THE TOP 10 IN THREES MADEÂ
Rita Nazario has been impressive from long range for the Matadors this season. Nazario currently leads CSUN with 61 made three-pointers this season, which ranks fifth in the Big West. That total places her eighth all-time in school history for the most threes made in a single season. Nazario is currently chasing Cinnamon Lister, who has the school record with 89 made in 2013-14.
Â
NO ONE DISHES THE BALL BETTER THAN ASPAJO
Erika Aspajo has been running the offense all season long. She averages 4.1 assists on the year which leads the team, while totaling 87 assists so far this season. That 87 mark also leads the team. Aspajo has 181 total assists in her Matador career since joining the team in 2024-25. She is also looking to beat her total of 94 that she set back in her first year with CSUN.
Â
