2009 (JUNIOR): Was the Matadors’ top runner finishing 42nd in 25:42.7 at the 2009 Big West Cross Country Championships...advanced to the NCAA West Regional in Oregon where he placed 140th in a time of 34:11.70...best finish of the season was 24th (16:02.55) at the Northridge Cross Country Invitational.
2008 (SOPHOMORE): Finished a Northridge-best second at the Bakersfield Quad Meet during the 2008 cross country season...went on to finish 60th at the Big West Cross Country Championship.
2007 (FRESHMAN): Did not compete.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2006 graduate of Sylmar High School...earned letters in both track and field and cross country...was named MVP of the Spartans cross country team in both 2004 and 2005 ran a career-best 16:18 in the 5k... also ran the 800m, 1600m and 3200m for the track team...graduated with a 3.3 grade point average.
PERSONAL: Son of Alejandra and Juan Olea...major is Electrical Engineering...has two sisters, Mayra and Aracely and one brother, Gerardo...favorites include the Los Angeles Dodgers, boxer Oscar De La Hoya, “Sports Center” and the movie “Pet Cemetery”...says the toughest thing about being an athlete is “Less time to work = less money”...favorite website is myspace.com...says if he could switch places with someone for one day it would be Reggie Bush.
