2016 (SENIOR)
OUTDOOR: A member of 4x400m relay team that finished sixth at Big West Championship...ran a season best :22.44 in the 200m preliminaries of the Big West Championship...had a season best time of :49.13 in the 400m at the Fresno State Bulldog Invitational...ran a season best :11.33 in the 100m during the Aztec Invitational.
INDOOR: Posted a season best :22.67 in the 200m during the MPSF Championship...ran a season-best :50.11 in the 400m at the MPSF Championship.
2015 (JUNIOR)
OUTDOOR: Ran a career best :11.50 in the 100m at the UCR Spring Break Classic...sported a season-best of :22.38 in the 200m which occurred during the CSUN Challenge...a part of 4x400m relay team that put up CSUN's best time of the year, 3:16.58 (CSUN Challenge).
INDOOR: Ran a season-best time of :23.78 in the 200m during the UW Open...had a season-best time of 50.36 in the 400m in the season opening Lobo Open...a part of 4x400m relay team that finished in 3:21.98 to win UW Open.
2014 (SOPHOMORE): Ran a season best :50.60 in the 400m during the preliminaries of the Big West Championships...finished 11th in the 200m at the Fresno State Bulldog Invitational (:23.44).
INDOOR: Clocked a season-best of :49.56 at the Texas A&M Invitational which was good for 11th place...helped the Matadors finish fifth in the 4x400m at the Texas A&M meet.
2013 (FRESHMAN)
OUTDOOR: Finished 12th in the prelims of the 400 meters in a time of :48.44 during the Big West Championship...ran the opening leg of the CSUN 4x400 relay that finished fourth in a season best 3:13.32 during the Big West Championship...clocked a season best :22.51 in the 200 meters at the Adidas/Steve Scott Invitational.
INDOOR: Finished 32nd in the 400 meters in a time of :53.14 at the MPSF Championship (Feb. 23)...ran a season best :49.11 at both the Great Dane Classic and the Texas A&M Invitational...his season best in the 200 meters was :22.60 also at Texas A&M.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2012 graduate of Hanford High School...competed in the 200 and 400 meters as well as the relays for the Bullpup track team...earned track team MVP honors in 2011 and 2012 and was named Fresno Bee Track Athlete of the Year as a senior in 2012...earned West Yosemite League Best Runner award...his top times were 21.90 in the 200 and 47.73 in the 400...played football and basketball for the Bullpups...graduated with a 3.75 grade point average.
PERSONAL: Son of Karen and Edward Cantu...has two brothers, Joseph and Alex and three sisters, Fawnia, Elia and Angela...favorites include the San Francisco 49ers, actors Denzel Washington and Gabrielle Union, the TV show "The Simpsons" and the movie "The Wood"...says he chose CSUN because of the "coaching staff, location and it had the key things I wanted in a college"...eats lasagna a day before a meet and listens to his playlist as a pre-meet ritual.
