CROSS COUNTRY: Posted career bests in the 5k (17:25.60) at the Pepperdine Invitational, 6k (20:15.20) at the Highlander Invitational, and the 8k (28:03.70) at the UC Riverside Invitational.
2015 (SOPHOMORE)
OUTDOOR: Had a season best time of 2:05.05 in the 800m at the Mar. 21 Northridge Invitational...posted a season best time of 4:13.30 in the 1500m during the San Francisco State Distance Carnival Apr. 4...charted a season best time of 9:42.48 in the 3000m during the Northridge Invitational...recorded a season-best time of 16:38.97 in the 5000m at the Triton Invitational Apr. 23.
INDOOR: Did not compete.
CROSS COUNTRY: Competed at the Aztec Invitational (Sept. 19) where he finished 16th in a season-best time of 30:28.50.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2012 graduate of Reseda High School...earned All-League honors for the Lions cross country team and was named Most Valuable Runner...was also league champion and his team won LA City Championships in 2010 and 2011...the track team won the city championship in 2011 and 2012...graduated with a 3.1 grade point average.
PERSONAL: Born in Michuocan, Mexico...son of Elvia Tapia Cruz and Javier Sanchez...has one older brother, Francisco and one younger sister, Lizeth...favorites include the Oregon Project, runners Steve Prefontaine and Galen Rupp, actress Jennifer Aniston and Mexican food.
