OUTDOOR: Finished eighth in the 1500m at the Big West Championship with a time of 3:59.12, a career best...posted a career best in the 800m at the Mar. 24 Northridge Invitational, 1:59.69 to place sixth...ran 15:59.58 in the 5000m during the Apr. 21 Beach Invitational...went 4:41.19 in the mile at the Mar. 10 CSUN All-Comers.
INDOOR: Ran once, the mile at the Feb. 3 New Mexico Classic (4:38.26).
CROSS COUNTRY: Competed in all five meets for the Matadors...finished a season-best 25th at The Master's Invitational (Sept. 30) in Santa Clarita in an 8k time of 27:28.9...also placed 29th at the season-opening Pepperdine Invitational in a 5k time of 17:47.73...finished 41st at the Big West Championship in 25:27.1.
2017 (SOPHOMORE)
OUTDOOR: Saw time in four meets...his season best in the 800m was 2:02.56 which occurred during the Mar. 11 Ben Brown Invite...was 15th in the 5000m at the Mar. 31 Bob Larsen Distance Carnival (15:51.70)...charted a career best in the mile, 4:29.47, at the Ben Brown Invite.
INDOOR: Did not compete.
CROSS COUNTRY: Competed in five of six meets for the Matadors as a sophomore...finished a season-best 42nd at the UCR Highlander Invitational in a 6k time of 19:40.23...also placed 62nd at the season-opening UCR Invitational in a time of 27:25.81...ran an 8k season-best of 26:43.3 at the Capital Cross Challenge...went on to finish 60th at the Big West Championship in 28:55.90.
2016 (FRESHMAN)
OUTDOOR: Entered four events...was ninth in the 5000m (15:43.73) at the Triton Invitational Apr. 22...came back the next day to run the 1500m at the Triton Invitational and placed 13th (4:15.61)...ran the 3000m at the Trojan Invitational (9:20.34).
INDOOR: Did not compete.
CROSS COUNTRY: Competed in six of seven meets for the Matadors as a freshman...finished a season-best 12th at the season-opening Pepperdine Invitational in a time 17:05.60...placed 52nd at the Highlander Invitational in 19:24.27...went on to finish 60th at the Big West Championship in 27:12.48.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2015 graduate of Ridgeview High School...was league MVP for the Wolfpack track team in 2015...won the area championship in the 1,600 meters as a senior...top times were 4:25 (1,600 meters), 9:54 (3,200 meters) and 2:01.8 (800 meters).
PERSONAL: Son of Tina Garcia and James Silva ... has two sisters, Jasmine and Alana and one brother, Richard ... favorites include the Oakland Raiders and Los Angeles Lakers, Kobe Bryant, actor Robert Downey Jr., the TV show "Daredevil" and the movie "Spider Man" ... says the best thing about being an athlete is "knowing you get everything you work for."
