OUTDOOR: Ran a season-best 9:51.03 in the 3000m steeplechase at the Triton Invitational...ran the 5000m once, finishing in 15:52.37 during the San Francisco State Distance Carnival...ran the 1500m once, finishing in 4:16.53 at the Aztec Open.
INDOOR: Did not compete.
CROSS COUNTRY: Competed in two events...posted a 27:01.80 on the 8k course of the UC Riverside Invitational...ran 26:38.10 at the Stanford Invitational, again on an 8k course.
2015 (FRESHMAN)
OUTDOOR: Did not compete.
INDOOR: Did not compete.
CROSS COUNTRY: Finished 65th at the Big West Championships in a time of 28:02.50...season best finish was 64th at the Highlander Invitational as he crossed the line in 20:06.30.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2014 graduate of Silverado High School..lettered in both track and cross country...earned All-Desert Sky League and Most Valuable Runner for the Hawks track squad in 2014...his team won the league track championship in 2014...also earned All-League and the Coaches Award in cross country in 2013...graduated with a 3.05 grade point average.
PERSONAL: Son of Josefina and Andres Chavez...favorites include the Los Angeles Lakers, actors Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Anne Hathaway and the movie "Pearl Harbor"....lists Twitter as his favorite website...says his best sports moments is "getting my best times"...says the toughest thing about being an athlete is "staying motivated in tough times".
