CSUNÂ - 2023Â (Redshirt Junior)
Jano Tello was one of three Matadors (Cook, Hobus) to start all 28 matches while playing in all 98 sets in his junior season ... finished the season with 145 kills (1.48 kps) which ranked third among CSUN hitters ... led the team with a .413 hitting percentage, committing just 41 errors on 252 attacks ... also ranked tied for second on the Matadors in blocks with 53 (0.54 bps) while ranking third with 13 aces (0.13 saps) ... also contributed 21 digs (0.21 dps) and nine assists ... knocked down a career-high 10 kills on 10 swings against Westcliff (Feb. 22) to set a single-match CSUN record for hitting percentage (1.000), edging four Matadors who held the record at .929 ... was named Big West Player of the Week on Feb. 27 ... also had nine kills on .615 hitting to go with a career-high five blocks in CSUN's 3-2 win at NJIT (Feb. 10) ... had one ace in a match 13 times ... was one of four Matadors named to the 2023 Big West All-Academic Team.
CSUNÂ - 2022 (Redshirt Sophomore)
Tello appeared in 14 matches and 33 sets during the 2022 season ... started 10 matches at middle blocker, posting season-highs of 32 kills, 0.97 kills per set, 16 blocks, seven digs, and five aces ... matched his career-high with five kills in two matches; against UC Merced (Feb. 4) and against St. Katherine (Feb. 23) ... had two kills on two errorless swings against Cal Lutheran (Jan .28) ... hit .500 on a season-high eight swings against St. Katherine ... also had a career-high four blocks in CSUN's 3-0 win over the Firebirds ... tied his career-high with single aces on five occasions, the last at No. 7 Pepperdine (Mar. 16).
CSUNÂ - 2021Â (Redshirt Freshman)
Tello appeared in three matches and four sets during the abbreviated 2021 season ... made his collegiate debut against No. 3 UC Santa Barbara (Mar. 26) and had two kills on two swings ... put down a season-high five kills on 21 attacks in two sets the following night at No. 3 UC Santa Barbara (Mar. 27) ... also had a pair of blocks in CSUN's 3-0 loss to the Gauchos ... also came off the bench against No. 13 UC San Diego (Apr. 2) but did not record a kill in three swings.
CSUNÂ - 2020 (Freshman)
Tello redshirted his first season at CSUN as a true freshman in 2020.
EASTLAKE HIGH SCHOOL
Tello was a three-time letterwinner in volleyball at Eastlake High School in Chula Vista, Calif. ... earned first-team All-CIF as a senior in 2019 ... claimed second-team All-CIF accolades in 2018 along with first-team All-Mesa League honors in both 2018 and 2019 ... the Titans finished as CIF Division I runners-up for coach Alex Garibay in 2018 ... graduated in 2019.
