2015 (JUNIOR): Entered six events...finished 67th in the Oct. 31 Big West Championship (24:00.10)...top 6k time was 23:06.50 at the UC Riverside Invitational (Sept. 12)...top 5k time was turned in during the Oct. 17 Highlander Invitational (19:12.40)...finished 18th at the Sept. 1 Pepperdine Invitational in only 4k race of season (16:49.50).
PRIOR TO CSUN: Spent two seasons at Orange Coast College...earned track Most Valuable Player honors in 2014...the Pirates won back-to-back California State championships under coach Mario Ochoa... top 800m time was 2:13.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2012 graduate of Bolsa Grande High School in Garden Grove, Calif...earned Athlete of the Year honors for the Matadors.
PERSONAL: Daughter of Stefani and Charlie Cortez...has two brothers, Phillip and Vincent and two sisters, Marina and Anyssa...says her best sports moment was when "I was ranked last the state meet and got third with my fastest time"...says the best thing about being an athlete is "competing" and the toughest is "being better than your best".
