GAME NOTES IN PDF FORMAT
NORTHRIDGE, Calif. --- The CSUN women's basketball team (4-4) hit the road for a pair of challenging road contests this week as it continues non-conference play. On Wednesday, Dec. 7, the Matadors travel to Seattle for a contest with No. 11 Washington at 7 p.m. from Alaska Airlines Arena. Two days later, CSUN meets up with former Big Sky Conference rival Weber State for another 7 p.m. contest. Live video will be available for both contests and fans are also encouraged to check with the CSUN Athletic Department's official Twitter handles (@GoMatadors, @_AlwaysFamily_) for updates throughout the week.Â
Last week, CSUN split a pair of games against Big Sky schools, defeating NAU on the road before falling at home to Eastern Washington. Against the Lumberjacks, Tessa Boagni and Serafina Maulupe each scored 20 points and Cheyenne Allen added a career-high 14 off the bench as the Matadors outlasted NAU in a wild contest.Â
Two days later, CSUN could not stop Eastern Washington from scoring in a 14-point loss. Maulupe led CSUN in scoring with 17 and Channon Fluker added 15 points and nine rebounds in defeat.Â
This week will offer CSUN a true measuring stick for how it stacks up against two top teams on the West Coast. Washington is 8-1 on the season and features the nation's top scorer (Kelsey Plum) and the nation's top rebounder (Chantel Osahor). CSUN and Washington will be meeting for the first time since the 2011-12 season.Â
Weber State is 6-1 on the year entering the week, traveling to BYU on Dec. 7 before hosting CSUN on Dec. 9. The Wildcats are coming off a 23-12 record a year ago and Friday's match-up will be the first between the two schools since 2001.
