CSUN Faces San José State Thursday; LMU Saturday

CSUN returns to the road this week as the Matadors have a pair of games on the docket.

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.-- CSUN returns to the road this week as the Matadors have a pair of games on the docket.
The Matadors travel to San José State on Thursday for a 7 p.m. matchup. San José State is 2-5 after dropping an 87-81 decision to San Francisco last Friday night. Taylor Turney, a 5-9 guard, is the Spartans' leading scorer at 15.0 points per game clip. She is shooting 50.7% from the field (38-75) and 89.3% (25-28) from the free throw line. Myzhanique Ladd leads the team in rebounding (8.4) and is second in scoring (11.9).
This is the 13th time in which CSUN is facing San José State. The Spartans lead the all-time series 11-4. This is the first time since Dec. 1, 2012 when San José State defeated CSUN 83-73 that the two teams are playing. Thursday's game will be streamed by the Mountain West Network (themw.com).
The Matadors stay out on the road on Saturday when CSUN heads to Loyola Marymount for a 2 p.m. start. Saturday's game is going to be streamed by The West Coast Conference Digital Network at theW.tv.
The Lions opened the 2017-18 season on a seven-game winning streak. The streak was halted last Friday night when USC defeated the Lions 80-70 at LMU. Cheyanne Wallace starts the week 47th in Division I in scoring with a 19.5 points per game average.
The CSUN-LMU matchup will featured teams that are both ranked in the top 20 in rebounding in Division I to start this week. The Matadors are 12th (366) while the Lions are 16th (359). Loyola Marymount travels to UC Santa Barbara Thursday night before hosting the Matadors.
CSUN improved to 2-6 after splitting a pair of games last week. The Matadors lost 64-61 to Weber State last Thursday before defeating Fresno State 85-72 last Saturday. Claudia Ramos scored a career high 23 points against the Bulldogs to lead CSUN to the victory.
Channon Fluker posting the 35th and 36th double-doubles of her career, Fluker was named Big West Conference Player of the Week Dec. 4. It is the eighth time in Fluker's career that she has been honored, moving her up to No. 8 all-time in Big West history for most Player of the Week citations. Fluker averaged 20.5 points and 12.5 rebounds while shooting 53.3 percent (16-of-30) from the field.
