NORTHRIDGE, Calif. --- The CSUN women's basketball team (15-11, 8-4 Big West) continues play with a pair of important conference games this week with the Big West Tournament just a few weeks away. On Thursday, Feb. 23, the Matadors travel to Cal State Fullerton to face the Titans at Titan Gym for a 7 p.m. contest. Two days later, CSUN hosts UC Riverside in a 4 p.m. contest at The Matadome. Both games will feature Mark Roberts calling all the action on the CSUN Sports Network and he will also be featured on BigWest TV for the contest against the Highlanders. Both games will also feature live stats and multimedia links for the games can be found on the women's basketball schedule page at GoMatadors.com.Â
Last week, the Matadors extended their winning streak to eight-straight games with victories over UC Irvine and Hawai'i. Against the Anteaters, CSUN avenged a loss earlier this season with an 85-77 victory. Channon Fluker finished with 27 points and 14 rebounds in the victory for her league-leading 17th double-double of the season.Â
Two days later, CSUN posted its first win ever in Honolulu as the Matadors defeated the Rainbow Wahine 60-49. Fluker was dominant in the performance, scoring a season-high 33 points and tying a career high with 15 field goals. She added five blocked shots in the win, which was also CSUN head coach Jason Flowers' 100th career win.Â
For her efforts, Fluker won her third-straight Big West Player of the Week award and fifth of the season. She has seven career weekly awards which ties her for the program record with Ashlee Guay and is eighth all-time in Big West Conference history.Â
This week, CSUN gets a pair of challenges from the Titans and Highlanders. Despite a tough season, Cal State Fullerton features several talented players and the Titans are just one game out of qualifying for the Big West Tournament.Â
Two days later, UCR comes to the San Fernando Valley in the 60th all-time meeting between the schools. The Highlanders also boast a talented group of players that forced overtime in CSUN's victory earlier this season.Â
