SEATTLE—The CSUN men's and women's track and field teams concluded their indoor regular season Saturday at the University of Washington Husky Classic.
Men's Recap
Matthew Arnold came home sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 45-11 1/4. Clint Meyer placed seventh in the shot put with a toss of 58-3 3/4.
Joshua Turner turned in the fourth fastest time in the 60m hurdle prelims (8:20) while Ben Hibbert (8:37) was seventh quick as both made it to the finals of the event. Turner came back in the finals to place fourth as he ran :8.15. Hibbert was eighth in the finals as he posted a time of :8.39.
Michael Merchan (1:53.87) and Mario Ramirez (1:54.82) were 20th and 21st respectively in the 800m. Ramirez's time was the 10th fastest in school history.
Women's Recap
De'Andreah Young won her heat of the 400m and finished fifth overall in a field of 43 by going :56.11. Brandy Wiliams charted a toss of 49-7 1/4 in the shot put to finish sixth. Her performance was the sixth best in school history.
Courtney Robinson advanced to the finals of the 60m hurdles with the sixth fastest time of the preliminaries, :8.70. Robinson advanced in the 60m dash with the seventh fastest time of the prelims (:7.74). Robinson finished fourth in the finals of the 60m hurdles in a time of :8.43. Robinson turned around to come in eighth in the 60m dash, running :7.70.
Ty Wallace finished seventh in the triple jump when she went 38-5 1/2. Gardenia Centenaro cleared 12-1 1/4 in the second section of the pole vault on Saturday. She came in 19th overall with the seventh best performance in school history.
"Today was indicative of the sort of performance that we are going to need more of in a couple of weeks," said CSUN interim head coach Lawrence Johnson. "We are coming together nicely as a team."
The Matadors return to Seattle for the MPSF Indoor Championships Feb. 23-24.
