Men's DMR Record Falls On First Day Of MPSF Indoors

CSUN reset the men's distance medley relay school record to highlight day one of the MPSF's.

SEATTLE—The CSUN men's and women's track and field teams opened competition at the MPSF Indoor Championships Friday.
Men's Recap
The distance medley relay team of Mario Ramirez, Parker Caston, Brenden Scott, and Michael reset the school record by posting a time of 9:57.95. The old mark of 10:01.32 was set during the 1998 season. CSUN finished sixth in event.
Erick Loomis scored the remaining CSUN points on the night with a third-place finish in the weight throw. His toss of 63-6 3/4 was second longest in school history.
Joshua Turner advanced to the finals of the 60m hurdles with a career best time of :8.11. The mark was the seventh fastest in school history and gives Turner the seventh seed in the Saturday finals.
Ben Hibbert nearly made the finals in the 60m hurdles. His time of :8.19 was the ninth quickest of the preliminaries. The top eight made it to the finals.
The Matadors have a total of nine points and sit in 11th place (of 15) after day one. BYU (34.5) leads the team race.
Women's Recap
Courtney Robinson advanced to the finals of the 60m hurdles as she ran the eighth fastest time of the prelims, :8.52.
Sydney Mosley just missed the finals as she came in ninth during the prelims in a time of :8.57. Her time was a personal best and is the sixth fastest in school history.
Beth Rossi cleared 12-3 1/2 in the pole vault, the sixth best mark in school history. Rossi would finish 19th in the event.
"We had an amazing start to the these MPSF Championships!!!" said CSUN interim head coach Lawrence Johnson. "We had a host of personal bests, athletes qualifying for finals and to top it off, a new school record in the men's dmr. We are excited about the Saturday's finals."
CSUN looks to get on the scoreboard on Saturday. 22 teams are entered in the field with USC (49) leading the team race. The meet resumes on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with the field events. The running events get underway at 11 a.m.
