
CSUN Can't Improve from 19th Place in Hawai'i

LIHUE, Hawai'i - The CSUN men's golf team got a top-20 finish from senior Felix Mory but as a team the Matadors were not able to move up from 19th place at the conclusion of the John A. Burns Intercollegiate Saturday at Wailua Golf Course.
Mory added a second top-20 finish to his three top-10 finishes so far this season after finishing 14th at three-under 213. Mory was tied for seventh after a first round 69 but slipped into a tie for 11th after a second round 71. A final round one-over 73 dropped him three spots but kept him in the top-20 in the 121 player field.
No other CSUN player was able to crack the top 100 as Luis Calderon finished tied for 104th following his best round of the tournament. Calderon carded a three-over 75 on Saturday, his low round of the season to finish the tournament at 15-over 231, also his low three-round total this year.
Michael Zhang finished 109th at at 18-over 234 following rounds of 79-79-76, Gabriel Barnes was 112th at 21-over 237 following rounds of 83-77-77 and Trym Falch was 116th at 24-over 240 after posting scores of 77-80-83. Tomas Skajem also competed individually, finishing in a tie for 114th at at 22-over 238 following rounds of 83-79-76.
Texas A&M won the team title with a three-round total of 835 (-29) while the Aggies' Chandler Phillips won the individual title at 13-under 203.
CSUN will be back in action Mar. 5-6 as the Matadors travel to the State Capitol for the Sacramento State Invitational.
