CSUN Finishes Strong At New Mexico Classic

The CSUN men's and women's track and field teams finished strong at the New Mexico Classic Saturday. Both Matadors' teams saw individuals put up marks that moved the competitors into the all-time indoor top 10 at CSUN.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.—The CSUN men's and women's track and field teams finished strong at the New Mexico Classic Saturday. Both Matadors' teams saw individuals put up marks that moved the competitors into the all-time indoor top 10 at CSUN.
Men's Recap
Joshua Turner ran an :8.16 in the preliminaries of the 60m hurdles, the 10th fastest time in school history. In the finals, Turner placed seventh, running :8.20.
Charlie Nettles was 13th overall in the mile run (4:27.62). Daniel Fenrich finished 16th in the 800m, running 1:58.92.
Women's Recap
After running a career best :8.40 in the semis, Courtney Robinson recorded a time of :8.37 to turn in the second fastest time in school history in the 60m hurdle finals. Robinson would finish eighth in the event.
Robinson doubled up in the 60m and registered the ninth fastest time in school history during the prelims at :7.59. In the 60m semis, Robinson ran :7.66, but failed to advance to the finals.
Gardenia Centanaro cleared a season best 12-4 1/2 in the pole vault to place 13th.
"We made significant and necessary improvements today and throughout the competition," said CSUN interim head coach Lawrence Johnson. "We faced some of the best Power Five teams in the country, and we stepped up to the challenges they presented. Overall, I'm really proud of the grit and determination that the teams showed this weekend. We are developing an All-In attitude."
CSUN is back in action next Friday and Saturday at the University of Washington Husky Classic.
