CSUN Track Begins Final Regular Season Indoor Meet At Washington

SEATTLE—The CSUN men's and women's track and field teams began their final weekend of the indoor regular season Friday at the University of Washington Husky Classic.

Men's Recap
Mark Nicolas tied for first with David Boyd of Trinity Western in the first section of the pole vault. The duo both cleared 15-11 3/4, a new career best for Nicolas. The performance was the fourth best in CSUN school history.

Daniel Swarbrick broke 60-feet for the first time in the weight throw. His toss of 60-0 1/2 is the sixth best in school history and earned him seventh place in the field of 31. Erick Loomis was eighth in the weight throw (59-8 1/4) while Christopher Brown (55-2) finished 13th.

Logan Cantrell tied for seventh in section one of the pole vault (15-0) with three others. The second and final section will be conducted on Saturday afternoon. T'Jari Packard placed seventh in the 200m as he posted a time of :22.22.

Women's Recap
Virginia Scardanzan tied for second in pole vault section one (with four others) as she cleared 11-7 1/4 in the event.

Courtney Robinson finished fourth in the 200m in a time of :24.80. Sydney Mosley was 21st in the event as she ran :25.96.

Jasmine Vasquez ran the seventh fastest 5000m time in school history when she went 17:58.44 during the race. She was 66th overall during the competition.

The Husky Classic concludes Saturday. The running events begin at 9 a.m. while the field events are set for 9:30 a.m.
"Today was a very good start to what we hope to be our most productive weekend yet," said CSUN interim head coach Lawrence Johnson. "We have already seen a few top 10 school record performances. We will have to be very focused and direct in our approach to Saturday's competition."
