Young Wins 400 hurdles; CSUN Strong On Day 1 At Stanford

PALO ALTO, Calif.—CSUN turned in several strong showings on the first day of the Stanford Invitational Friday.

WOMEN'S RECAP
De'Andreah Young won the 400m hurdles in a time of :58.15. Young's performance was the third quickest in school history.
Â
Gardenia Centanaro was victorious in the pole vault as she went 11-11 3/4.
Â
Taranique Alexander finished second in the long jump by posting a leap of 19-2 1/2.
Â
In the collegiate shot put; Jasmine Pharms was third in the shot put (47-11) while Elena Lopez (44-6 1/4) was seventh.

In the invitational shot put, Brandy Williams placed third with a toss of 50-3 1/4.

MEN'S RECAP
Joshua Turner and Ben Hibbert both advanced to the finals of the 110m hurdles. Turner was fifth in the race (:14.49) while Hibbert came in seventh (:14.74).

Turner came back to placed third in the long jump when he 22-7 1/4.
Â
Erick Loomis finished third in the hammer throw (201-9) while teammate Daniel Swarbrick was eighth in the event (185-3).

Parker Caston Jr. was seventh in the 400m (:48.56). Kurt Felicitas earned a ninth-place finish in the invitational long jump (21-6).
"Day one of the Stanford Invitational has been very productive for both of our programs," said CSUN interim head coach Lawrence Johnson. "De'Andreah Young's performance in the 400 hurdles and Brandy Williams' performance in the invitational shot put was outstanding. Daniel Swarbrick and Erick Loomis also had outstanding performances in the throws."
