CSUN Tennis Wraps Up Regular Season This Weekend

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—CSUN concludes the women's tennis' regular season this weekend with a pair of duals.

On Friday, the Matadors (7-9, 3-3 Big West) travels to UC Santa Barbara for a 1 p.m. matchup. The Gauchos (9-12, 5-1 Big West) moved into first place in the league standings last week when UCSB defeated Cal State Fullerton 4-3. UC Santa Barbara's top doubles team of UCSB's doubles in Palina Dubavets and Natalie Da Silveira have been ranked as high as No. 40 in the ITA standings this season. Amanda Atanasson is a team leading 9-7 this season. This is the 27th time in which CSUN and UCSB are playing with the Gauchos leading the all-time series 19-7.

The regular season will conclude on Sunday at 11 a.m. when the Matadors host Hawai'i. The Rainbow Wahine are 9-6, 5-2 in Big West play. Petra Melounova is Hawai'i's No. 1 singles player. She is ranked 72nd in the current ITA individual singles' poll and is 12-3 on the year. Melounova and Michelle Resma are the team leaders in doubles victories with 12 (12-4). This is the 20th time that Hawai'i and CSUN are playing a women's tennis dual with UH leading the all-time series 12-7.

Long Beach State ended CSUN's five-dual winning streak last Friday when the 49ers defeated the Matadors 4-1. Skyla Alcon, who was named Big West Player of the Week last week, earned her sixth consecutive singles win, by defeating Maren Helgo 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3. Â

Alicia Dinklemeyer remains the team leader in singles victories as she is 10-1. Alcon and Monika Van de Vondel are a team leading 9-4 in doubles this season.
