INDUSTRY HILLS, Calif. - Senior Felix Mory put himself back in contention with a second round two-under 70 while CSUN posted a 17-shot improvement from round one but the Matadors remain eighth through 36 holes at the Big West Championship.
After carding a team round of 305 on Sunday, CSUNÂ posted a 288 on Monday and heads into Tuesday's final round at 593, just seven shots out of a possible top six finish.
"I thought today was much more of how this team is capable of playing," said CSUN Head Coach Jim Bracken. "That's how we should have played in the first round. Our goal as a team tomorrow is to pass a couple of teams and get into the top six."
Mory, who began the day tied for 23rd after an opening round 74, had three birdies on the front nine before posting a single bogey and eight pars on the back nine.
"Felix was three under at the turn but just missed a few opportunities on the back nine," said Bracken.
