HOW IT HAPPENED
- A 4-for-4 start from the field gave CSUN an early 8-3 lead. The Titans responded with a 6-0 spurt for a one-point advantage. Out of the first quarter media timeout, the Matadors kept Cal State Fullerton off the board, scoring the final eight points of the frame, going up 16-9.
- CSUN increased the lead to 27-14 at the second quarter media timeout, but Channon Fluker, who was a perfect 4-for-4 to that point from the field, was whistled for her second foul. With Fluker on the bench, the Matadors allowed only four Cal State Fullerton points in the remaining 4:14 of the half. A Meghann Henderson three-pointer at the buzzer made it 32-18 in favor of CSUN heading into overtime.
- The Matadors increased the lead to 25 with 3:13 to go in the third quarter. Cal State Fullerton scored the final six points of the frame to create a 49-30 score. The Titans chipped away at CSUN, cutting the score to 53-35 on a Daeja Smith layup with just over eight minutes to play.
- CSUN responded with a scoring barrage that put the game away. A 21-3 run over the next six minutes earned the Matadors the largest lead of the night, 74-36, when Jordyn Jackson sank a short jump at the 2:03 mark. CSUN made 10-of-16 field goal attempts in the final 10 minutes.
FOR CSUN
- The Matadors broke the 50-percent shooting mark for the first time this season, making 31-of-61 field goal attempts. CSUN was 17-of-33 from the field in the second half (51.5%).
- CSUN held Cal State Fullerton to 7-of-28 shooting the first half. The Matador defense was strong in the second, allowing only 12-of-37 Cal State Fullerton shots to go down.
- Using their height advantage, the Matadors outscored the Titans 20-6 in the paint during the opening 20 minutes. For the game, CSUN held a 20-point advantage in the paint (46-26).
- Fluker tallied her 70th career double-double with a game high 16 points and a team high 11 rebounds. The 6-4 center made her third three-pointer of the year along the way. Fluker blocked six shots and dished out four assists.
- Eliza Matthews was 6-of-6 from the floor for a season high 12 points. De'Jionae Calloway scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds. The fourth CSUN post player, Lauren Shymkewicz, added six points.

- Cal State Fullerton ended the game with a 29.2% shooting mark (19-of-65). The Titans struggled against the CSUN zone, making only 2-of-16 from three-point range.
ACCORDING TO HEAD COACH JASON FLOWERS
- "I thought we put some things together. We had some stretches where we were defensively sound. Offensively, it was the best game we played all season. The ball moved, we pushed the tempo. Hopefully this is a start of continued growth in both of those areas."
- "We were efficient from the field, shooting 50% from the field. If we can make perimeter shots, it makes life a lot easier for everybody involved. In the first half, the zoned us. They started the second half in a zone, we got some quick buckets, they went to man and our kids did a good job of adjusting to both."
- "We have to build on this and get ready for Saturday against UC Davis. We have to take care of the basketball and make some shots. We have to make it difficult on them on the defensive end on the floor and not give up any easy looks."
UP NEXT
- Second place CSUN travels to first place UC Davis on Saturday. The Aggies won their fifth in a row Thursday night, defeating Long Beach State 70-50 to improve to 14-6 overall, 6-1 in Big West play. Tip is set for 2 p.m. with coverage available on BigWest.tv.
