
Matadors Extend Winning Streak with Victory over Omaha

NORTHRIDGE, Calif - The CSUN women's tennis team (9-3) extended its winning streak to six in a row with a decisive 6-1 victory over Omaha on Tuesday at the Matador Tennis Complex.
HOW IT HAPPENED
ACCORDING TO HEAD COACH GARY VICTOR
"Emma and Sibel provided the energy spark for the team today. They have been consistent in their positive approach to working in practice and in matches. Jolene, Ana, and Lauren worked through a slow start to finish strong.
UP NEXT:
The Matadors head to San Luis Obispo Friday to take on Nevada in a neutral site match. Play against the Wolfpack will begin at 11 a.m. Nevada is 6-4 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Matadors, who remain undefeated in non-conference play (8-0) this season, took the doubles point when all three doubles teams took victories early on.
- Skyla Alcon with Ana Isabel Fraile Toboso as well as Sibel Demirbaga with Emma Roenholt both won their doubles points by the score of 6-1 to clinch the point for the Matadors.
- In singles play the Matadors would clinch the victory with three consecutive singles victories to begin the day.
- Roenholt took care of Emily Behling 6-2, 6-0 to give the Matadors a 2-0 lead on Court No. 4.
- Lauren Anderson defeated Savanna Crowell 6-3, 6-2 to put the Matadors on top by three on Court No. 5.
- Sibel Demirbaga sealed the victory on Court No. 3 with a win over Marie Kapelevich (6-3, 6-4) and with the win, the freshman from Germany remains undefeated in singles' play thus far, sporting a 12-0 record.
- Freshman Fraile Toboso remains undefeated as well. The first-year player from Spain is now 11-0 with a victory over Natalie Lorentz (6-2 5-7 10-4)
- Justine Linscott defeated Romy Knoll (7-6, 7-5) in Knoll's collegiate debut.
- Jolene Coetzee defeated Janelle Wilson (7-6 ,6-2) to end the game at 6-1 in favor of CSUN.
