
No. 21 CSUN Continues Campaign in Honolulu

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.--- The No. 21 CSUN Water Polo team (13-13, 0-1 BWC) continues Big West play this weekend as the Matadors travel to No. 5 Hawai'i (12-4, 1-0 BWC) on Saturday at 9 p.m. (PDT).

- The Matadors are coming off a week where CSUN went 2-1 with back-to-back wins against Connecticut College and Austin College March 12. CSUN fell in its conference opener to Long Beach State 10-8. In the Matadors' last three matches, CSUN tallied 41 goals total.
- Tori Wilson leads the Matadors in goals with 54. The junior transfer from Kitchener, Ontario is tied for the Big West lead in goals and leads the conference in points (79). She also is tops in the Big West in steals with 33.
- Madasonne Butler leads the team in goal percentage with over half of her shots (.525) finding the back of the net on the campaign.
- Junior Jennalyn Barthels is first in conference assists with 31 and leads the team in blocks with 11.
- The last win against the Rainbow Wahine came on Mar. 2, 2015 when the Matadors won in Hawai'i, 7-6.
- Emma Pfister is first in the Big West in saves with 199. She will likely eclipse the 200 mark in the match against the Rainbow Wahine.
- The Rainbow Wahine (12-4) dropped their last outing to top-ranked USC, 12-8, on Saturday, March 16. Hawai'i is now 11-4 against ranked teams on the season.
- Irene Gonzalez, arguably Hawaii's best player, ranks second in the conference in points with 66, registering 44 goals and 22 assists.
- The Rainbow Wahine were 5-0 in Big West play last year, and are the reigning conference champions.
- In the last match against CSUN, Hawai'i won 12-6 in Northridge on April 15, 2018.
- The Rainbow Wahine are 15-4 against CSUN all-time.
