
CSUN Faces Alabama In San Diego

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—The CSUN women's tennis team returns to action Saturday when the Matadors face Alabama in a neutral site dual at San Diego State. First serve is set for 11 a.m.
The Crimson Tide are 4-0 to begin the week. Alabama faces San Diego State on Friday before taking on CSUN. Isabella Harvison and Ann Selim lead the team in singles' victories as both are 9-3. Harvison and Moka Ito have posted a team-best 7-2 doubles mark.
CSUN opened the women's tennis dual season with a 7-0 victory over Westmont Jan. 25. Emma Roenholt and Lisa-Marie Wurst opened doubles play with a 6-0 victory at No. 3 over Christine Hemry and Ana Negri. The Matadors secured the doubles' point when Jolene Coetzee and Ana Isabel Fraile Toboso handed Sidney Lowry and Rachael Jackson a 6-1 defeat at No. 1. Ekaterina Repina and Jacquie Tan completed the doubles sweep with a 6-1 win at No. 2 against Cade Pierson and Emily Peterson.
Singles' play began with a Wurst 6-0, 6-0, victory over Ava Verchimak at No. 6. Roenholt swept Hemry 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5 before Fraile Toboso defeated Jackson 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4. Tan secured the dual with a 6-2, 6-1 win in the No. 2 slot against Peterson. Repina defeated Pierson 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1. The dual came to an end as Coetzee swept Lowry 6-1, 6-4. The CSUN victory improved the Matadors to 16-0 against the Warriors.
