CSUN Hosts Pacific Friday Afternoon

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—The CSUN women's tennis returns home Friday afternoon when the Matadors host Pacific in a 1 p.m. dual.
The Tigers are 1-0 after defeating Fresno State 4-3 on Jan. 25. Anna Ramos-Vinolas earned Pacific the dual win with her 6-3, 7-5 victory over Alessia Dario at No. 6 singles. Pacific's Klara Kosan is 75th in this week's Oracle ITA Division I Women's Tennis rankings.
This is the 18th time that CSUN and UOP are playing women's tennis with the Matadors leading the all-time series 13-4. This is the first meeting between the two teams since Pacific left the Big West Conference. CSUN has won eight in a row in the series dating back to Mar. 25, 2007 when the Tigers defeated the Matadors 4-3 in Northridge.
CSUN dropped a 6-1 decision to Alabama in a dual that was played on the campus of San Diego State Feb. 1.
The Crimson Tide (6-0) took the doubles point. Moka Ito and Sasha Gorchanyuk defeated Jolene Coetzee and Ana Isabel Fraile Toboso 6-3 in the number one slot. Ekaterina Repina and Jacquie Tan fell 6-2 to Alba Cortina Pou and Ann Selim at No. 2. Luca Fabian and Jacqueline Pelletier handed Emma Roenholt and Lisa-Marie Wurst a 6-1 defeat in the No. 3 match.
Repina charted the lone CSUN victory at No. 1 singles. The junior from Russia defeated Ito 6-1, 6-3. Isabella Harvison would defeat Tan at No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-1. Cortina Pou swept Coetzee 6-3, 6-3.
Fraile Toboso and Ares Teixido went to three sets at No. 4. Teixido won the first 6-4 before Toboso tied it up 6-4 in the second. Teixido took the match 6-0 in the third. Sasha Gorchanyuk defeated Roenholt in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 5. Fabian defeated Wurst 7-5, 6-0 in No. 6 singles.
