NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—For the first time since Mar. 5, 2020, CSUN will host a women's basketball game as the Matadors welcome former CCAA rival Cal State Dominguez Hills to The Matadome Monday night. Tip on ESPN+ is set for 6 p.m. with David Gascon on the call.
Â
Monday's game will serve as an exhibition for Cal State Dominguez Hills and will be the third for the Toros in four days.
Â
Cal State Dominguez Hills opened the season Friday night, falling 69-66 to Concordia-Irvine at Cal State LA. Freshman Asia Jordan posted a team-high 19 points against CUI. On Saturday, The Toros dropped a 72-69 decision to Biola at Cal State LA. Auren Issacson scored a game-high 24 points for Cal State Dominguez Hills in the defeat.
Â
The Toros, who like CSUN sat out last season due to COVID-19 when the CCAA suspended play, played one exhibition, losing 88-55 to CSU Bakersfield Nov. 5 in Bakersfield.
Â
This is the first time since Nov. 30, 1995, that CSUN and Cal State Dominguez Hills are playing women's basketball. Monday is the 27th all-time meeting between the two teams dating back to the days in the CCAA for the Matadors. CSUN leads 16-10 in the all-time series.
Â
The Matadors returned to the floor Nov. 9 at No. 15/22 Arizona after a 20-month absence due to COVID-19. The Wildcats defeated CSUN 87-44. Kayanna Spriggs and Jordyn Jackson both posted nine points to pace the Matadors. Spriggs added a team-high six rebounds.
