CSUN Hosts Three Women's Tennis Duals This Week

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—The CSUN tennis team will be busy as the Matadors host three duals in the upcoming week.
The action gets underway Wednesday when the Matadors host Sacramento State at 2 p.m. With no fans allowed in the Matador Tennis Complex, you can watch the dual on BigWest.tv. The Hornets are 1-11 after losing 6-1 to Northern Arizona last Saturday. Tsveti Yotova and Jin Yu both have a team-leading two singles wins.
The doubles pairs of Yotova and Grace Dodd and Shauna Casey and Paige Alter each won three times to pace the Hornets. This is the 22nd time that CSUN and Sacramento State are playing women's tennis with the Matadors leading the all-time series 17-4.
Santa Clara begins the week with a 2-4 dual record before hosting UC Davis on Tuesday and facing Pepperdine on Friday. At 5-1, Finley Kalinic is leading the Broncos in singles victories. Kalinic and Katherine Petty have a team-best 4-2 doubles mark. This is the ninth time that the teams have met with each program winning four times.
UC Davis is 2-6, 0-2 in Big West play to start this week. After playing Santa Clara, the Aggies will travel to Cal State Fullerton on Saturday before playing the Matadors. Olivie Maunupan has the best singles record on the team with a 6-2 mark. Michelle Zell and Shirley Hall are 4-4 for the top doubles record on UC Davis. This is the 25th time that CSUN and UC Davis are playing tennis with the Matadors leading the all-time series 15-9.
The Matadors went 1-1 last week. CSUN defeated Azusa Pacific 7-0 Mar. 19 for the 298th dual victory of Gary Victor's career. The Matadors fell 6-1 at Fresno State on Mar. 21. Magdalena Hedrzak went 2-0 in singles last week, winning in straight sets against both APU and Fresno State.
