CSUN Hands Sacramento State A 6-1 Defeat

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—CSUN defeated Sacramento State 6-1 in women's tennis action Wednesday afternoon at the Matador Tennis Complex.
Jolene Coetzee and Ana Fraile Toboso defeated Jayden Nielsen and Megan Tagaloa 6-1 at No. 1 doubles to begin the competition. No. 2 doubles saw Ekaterina Repina and Jacquie Tan defeat Paige Alter and Shauna Casey 6-1 to clinch the doubles point. Magdalena Hedrzak and Jenna Dorian posted a 6-4 victory in the No. 3 doubles contest versus Grace Dodd and Tsveti Yotova.
Dorian earned the first singles victory when Jin Yu retired in the second set, trailing 6-4, 1-4. Coetzee earned a straight-sets victory (6-2, 6-2) at No. 2 singles against Tagaloa. Hedrzak handed Yotova a 6-0, 6-1 defeat at No. 3 singles for the dual-clinching victory. Repina defeated Nielsen 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 before Alter recorded the lone Hornets' (1-12) win when she defeated Fraile Toboso 6-4, 6-0.
"We fought through a very windy day and competed well," said CSUN head coach Gary Victor. "Our doubles looked solid. Having Kat (Repina) back makes a world of difference for us."
The victory was the 299th of Victor's career at CSUN. The first attempt for No. 300 will occur on Saturday when the Matadors (2-2) host Santa Clara (2-5) at 11 a.m.
