Waggoner's kill at 1-1Â in the opening stage of the match gave the Matadors their only lead of the set. The hosts scored three straight to take a 4-2 lead and would never look back. A Sukhov service error pulled CSUN within 4-3 but five straight Fresno State points forced a Matador timeout at 9-3. The hosts extended the lead to as many as 10 at 16-6 when Waggoner's swing was stuffed by the Bulldog block. Still leading by double figures at 19-9, Fresno State outscored the Matadors 6-3 over the final nine points to seal the set 25-12.
