"We started doubles off really well," Dorian said. "Vika (Victoria) and I had a good doubles match, coming out with the win. Our other (doubles) teams played well, and it was a great fight."
Jittakoat defeated Coetzee 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. Magrini had to go to 8-6 in a second set tiebreaker against Hedrzak at No. 2 before coming away with the win (6-2, 7-6). Fraile Toboso dropped the first set to Hummel at No. 3, 4-6, before coming back to win the match 6-3, 6-2.
"We all fought today and that's what is important," said Fraile Toboso. "I think we are going in the right direction, and we continue to grow and improve every day. I am very happy with my victory today, but above all, I am happy to have given everything on the court."
Piferi won the first set at No. 4 singles against Turchak 6-1, Turchak won the second set tiebreaker 7-2 (7-6 overall), before Piferi earned the match win 6-1 in the third. Nonnnis Marzano defeated Santibañez Luna 4-6, 6-1, 7-5 at No. 5 singles. Dorian and Ella Husrefovic were tied at one (6-7, 6-2) set a piece at No. 6 singles before the dual concluded. Fresno State improved to 9-3 on the year.
"Going into singles, I had some momentum," Dorian said. "It was a long match, but I played well and wanted to work on some things which I did, and it felt good."
ACCORDING TO HEAD COACH GARY VICTOR
"We were a point away from five three-setters. This was an excellent battle against a good team. I am very proud of the effort our team put out today. (Victoria) and Jenna continue to compete with all they have. Ana is coming into her own again."
