WHAT'S COMING UP
The Matadors return to Albuquerque for New Mexico Collegiate Classic.

Scheduled to compete are Adams State, Arizona State, Arkansas, CSUN, Colorado, Colorado Mesa, CSU Pueblo, Eastern New Mexico, Grand Canyon, Houston, Idaho State, Iowa, Kansas State, Long Beach State, Lubbock Christian, Madonna University, Miami (Fla.), New Mexico, New Mexico Highlands, New Mexico State, North Texas, Oklahoma, Princeton, Rice, Samford, Stephen F. Austin, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas State, Texas Tech, Toronto, UC Irvine, UCLA, UIW, USC, Utah Valley, UTEP, West Texas A&M, and Wisconsin. As of Feb. 1, 1,640 entries were completed for the meet.

LAST TIME OUT
A new women's school record highlighted the CSUN men's and women's track and field teams' competition at the University of New Mexico Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Invitational on Jan. 21.

Arianna Alexander broke the school record in the 60m dash in the preliminaries by running :7.43. Le'Shel Vines set the previous mark in 2014. Qualifying was fast as Texas' Julien Alfred set the quickest time in the world this season, :7.05. In the finals, Alexander placed seventh (:7.48) as Alfred lowered her world's fastest mark to :7.02 to win the event. She later finished 17th in the 200m with the 11th fastest time in school history, :24.55.

Freshman Logan Davis was the runner-up in the unseeded 200m. His time of :21.63 was the eighth fastest in school history. In the seeded 200m, David Phillips, Jr. ran the second fastest time in school history, 21.22, to finish 11th.
