Shaylan Whatman's two-out home run to left in the top of the second opened the game's scoring. CSUN started Lauryn Carranco in the circle, and she pitched two scoreless innings before giving way to Isabella Alonso in the third. Julia Cottrill smacked a two-out home run off Alonso in the bottom of the fourth to tie the score 1-1.
Alexis Martinez relieved Alonso to start the Aggies' fifth. Aiyana Coleman singled to begin the inning. Allie Enright ran for Coleman as Rylen Wiggins came to bat. An error on Wiggins' sac bunt attempt allowed both runners to reach base safely. Then, with Amari Harper at the plate, a Martinez wild pitch advanced both runners up a base. Harper walked to load the bases. Star Ferguson grounded into a 4-2 fielder's choice for the first out. Then, Koko Wooley walked to give the Aggies the 2-1 lead. Allie Gardiner relieved Martinez. Her first batter Riley Martinez recorded a sacrifice fly to increase the lead to two. Gardiner recorded the final out to keep it at 3-1.
A pitch hit Gizella Vargas Sandoval with two outs in the top of the sixth. Kaylee Escutia was the tying run, but Emily Levitt struck out the Matadors' right fielder to quiet the threat. Leavitt set CSUN down in order in the seventh to improve to 2-1 on the year.
Leavitt relieved Shaylee Ackerman in the fourth. The duo combined on a three-hitter. Leavitt won, charting six of the nine Texas A&M (11-2) strikeouts. The four CSUN pitchers combined to allow three hits. Carranco recorded three of the four Matadors' strikeouts as Martinez took the loss.
