ACCORDING TO HEAD COACH CARLENE MITCHELL
"Our kids played super hard throughout the entire game. We had a couple of plays late that were set up based on personnel on the court. It shouldn't come down to that, but it gave us a chance to win on their home court. Looking at the stats, the rebounding stands out; we had 40 to their 28, and most of the time, we played with a smaller lineup on the floor. I thought we did a decent job of taking care of the ball in the second half after committing some unforced turnovers in the first half that led to easy baskets for them. It was a disappointing end, but our kids are walking out of the locker room with their heads up."
THE STATS
After starting the game 2-for-7, UCSB went 12-of-19 to end the first half (63.6%). The Gauchos did not make a field goal over the final 4:16 of the fourth quarter ending the day 52.1% (25-of-48) from the field. CSUN took 20 more shots and shot 36.8% (25-of-68) for the game.
