Matadors Win Fourth in a Row; CSUN defeats Youngstown State 5-2

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—CSUN won its fourth consecutive women's tennis dual on Thursday as the Matadors defeated Youngstown State 5-2.
After dropping the opening doubles match to Jolene Coetzee and Angela Ho at No. 1, the Penguins returned to earn wins at No. 2 and No. 3.
Yuliia Zhytelna defeated Eliska Masanikova 6-0, 6-2, to begin singles play in the No. 3 slot. Tallia Harper put the Matadors up 2-1 when she defeated Julia Marko 6-1, 6-3 at No. 6. Elisa Rigzio tied the match for Youngstown State when she handed Sasha Turchak a 6-2, 6-3 defeat in No. 2 play.
Coetzee returned the lead to CSUN when she picked up a straight sets victory (6-2, 6-2) against Lili Minich at No. 1. Vitoria Solis Urdiales clinched the dual for the Matadors at No. 5. Solis Urdiales defeated Moka Ito 6-1, 7-5 to earn the victory. Emma Moratalla Sanz rounded out the day at No. 4. She lost the first set to Cecilia Rosas 6-3 before tying it up 6-4 in the second. Finally, Solis Urdiales brought home the win 11-9 in the super tiebreaker.
ACCORDING TO HEAD COACH GARY VICTOR
"In doubles, we came out very flat; credit to Youngstown for playing inspired, aggressive doubles. In between singles and doubles, I told the team that it is done, and we got to work on that some other time. As singles were going on, I was proud of them. I mean, it starts with Yuliia's energy, it is infectious, and she's just playing so well. Jolene is also really starting to feel it; right now, she's one of the best players. Truly it is a privilege to have her on this team as well."

"I thought everyone played well; our opponents were strong," Harper said. So whether we won or lost today, everyone played very well."
