CSUN Track & Field Competes in Three Meets This Week

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—The CSUN men's and women's track and field teams return to competition this week as the teams will take part in three meets.
CSUN begins the action Thursday and Friday at the Bryan Clay Invitational that Azusa Pacific will host. FloTrack streams the racing for a fee.
Brianna Kelpis and Elizabeth Chidester are entered in the Heptathlon, which will begin on Thursday at 8 a.m. and conclude on Friday beginning at 9 a.m.
Joseph Alipranti and Elijah Ignacio have been accepted to compete in the men's hammer throw on Friday at Citrus College (9 a.m.).
Ignacio and Guillermo Lopez are entered in the discus, which will be conducted at Citrus College on Friday at 4 p.m.
Jewyl Newton has been accepted in the women's hammer throw on Friday at Citrus College (9 a.m.).
Emily Hutchinson and Katherine Shipp-Davis are both entered in the discus, which will be conducted on Friday at Azusa Pacific beginning at 5 p.m.
The Matadors are set to compete in the Mt. SAC Relays on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, David Phillips, Jr. enters the Collegiate 100m. The preliminaries are at 12:45 p.m., with the finals at 2:30 p.m.
Noah Contreras runs the Collegiate 800m on Friday at 4:10 p.m.
The men's 4x100m relay of Christopher Allen, Logan Davis, James Crawford, and Phillips, Jr. take part in the Elite Invitational that goes off at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Phillips, Jr. runs the Elite Invitational 200m on Saturday at 4:40 p.m.
Finally, CSUN competes in Long Beach State's Beach Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The running events begin at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, while Friday's field events begin at 12:30 p.m. Saturday's action for both the track and field events get underway at 9 a.m.

The CSUN men are ranked 15th in the third USTFCCCA Regional Track & Field Rating Index that was released on Apr. 10.
The CSUN women are ranked 33rd in the first USTFCCCA Regional Track & Field Rating Index that was released on Apr. 10.
