Karissa Munsey's home run on the fifth pitch of the game gave CSUB the lead. Roadrunners' pitcher Brianna Sanchez retired the first eight Matadors before issuing a two-out third-inning walk to Vinessa Nunez. Then, she walked Shaylan Whatman before Mikayla Carman flew out to the warning track in left-center to end the inning.
Kaylee Escutia worked out a four-pitch walk to begin the bottom of the fourth. Alexa Landeros' sac bunt attempt was fielded by CSUB third baseman Shaylene Fuimaono who threw the ball into right field, allowing both runners to advance two bases. Kylie Galindo's sac fly scored Escutia to tie the game.
