Cal State Fullerton is 11-5, 3-1 in Big West. The Titans host Long Beach State on Friday before heading up the 405 to play in Northridge.

Kaytlin Taylor leads Cal State Fullerton in singles wins with nine (9-4). At 7-3, Natalie Duffy and Camila Garcia are the leading Titans' doubles team.

Saturday is the 49th time CSUN and Cal State Fullerton are playing women's tennis, with the Matadors leading the all-time series 31-17.

THE LEAGUE RACE
With a little over two weeks remaining in the regular season, the Matadors are in second place in the Big West standings with a 4-1 league mark. At 7-1, Hawai'i is the conference leader. Cal State Fullerton is third at 3-1, followed by UC Santa Barbara (2-1).

All nine postseason-eligible Big West teams will head to the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego for the 2023 Big West Women's Tennis Championship Apr. 26-29. The nine-team bracket will see the 8 and 9 seeds play a first-round match on Thursday to advance to the quarterfinals, where the No. 1 seed awaits. The remaining quarterfinals will see the two-seed play the seven; the three-seed play the six, and the four-seed play the five.

The semifinals begin on Friday at noon, followed by the Saturday finals at noon.

TEAM LEADERS
Yuliia Zhytelna has recorded a team-high 12 singles victories (12-3). Angela Ho has won five singles matches in a row dating back to Mar. 20 to improve to 11-2. Emma Moratalla Sanz is 11-4 in singles, winning 11 of her last 14 matches.

Ho leads the team in doubles victories with 12 (12-3) playing with three partners. Zhytelna and Sasha Turchak have played together in 15 matches this season, posting an 11-5 record. Playing with Ho, Jolene Coetzee is 10-3 in doubles play this season.

LAST WEEK
CSUN edged UC Davis 4-3 last Saturday to improve to 10-0 at home this season.Â

Sasha Turchak and Yuliia Zhytelna's 6-3 victory at No. 2 doubles against Lauren Ko and Olive Manupau put the Matadors up 1-0. The Aggies tied at No. 1 doubles when Yana Gurevich and Arianna Stavropoulos defeated Jolene Coetzee and Angela Ho 7-5. UC Davis took the lead at No. 3 doubles when Michelle Zell and Carly Schwartzberg defeated Vitoria Solis Urdiales and Cindy Ung 7-6 (7-5).Â

Zhytelna tied the dual when she handed Zell a 6-2, 6-0 defeat at No. 3 singles. She has won a team-high 12 singles matches (12-3). Then, Emma Moratalla Sanz won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 5 against Kristina Evloeva to put CSUN into the lead.Â

Stavropoulos tied the dual as she took a straight sets victory (6-1, 6-2) versus Turchak in the No. 2 slot. Ho won her fifth consecutive singles match to improve to 11-2 on the year when she went past Maunupau 6-0, 7-5.Â

At No. 6, Tallia Harper fell behind early on as she dropped the first set 1-6 and was beginning a comeback down 2-3 until her opponent, Schwartzberg, had to retire due to injury, clinching the dual in favor of the Matadors. Gurevich and Coetzee went to a super tiebreaker in their No. 1 singles match before Gurevich won 10-3 to make it the final 4-3.Â
