CSUN Tied for Eighth After Round One at Air Force

USAFA, Colo. - The CSUN men's golf team opened the fall portion of the 2023-24 schedule Sunday, tying for eighth after 18 holes of the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational at the Eisenhower Blue Golf Course.
As a team, the Matadors posted a 9-over 297 in the first round which is tied with South Dakota for eighth place in the 24-team field. Valparaiso carded a team round of 3-under 285 and carries a three-shot lead over New Mexico State (288) into round two. Cal Poly (290), Gonzaga (292) and Colorado State (292) round out the top five.
Eirik Thomassen, Felix Schrott and Antoine Sale are tied for CSUN's low score after 18 holes, each finishing Sunday at 2-over 74.Â

The Matadors will be paired with New Mexico State, Weber State and Gonzaga for round two which gets underway Monday at 10:10 a.m.

- Also for the Matadors, Brandon McDonough is tied for 46th at 3-over 75 and Thomas Burou is tied for 58th at 4-over 76.
- The tournament also featured an individual tournament on the Eisenhower Silver course with Dillon Jonke and Liam Judkins representing CSUN. Both players made their CSUN debut on Sunday with Jonke firing a round of 1-over 73 and Judkins finishing at 4-over 76.
