CSUN Hosts Washington State Before Heading to UC Irvine

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUN Tennis returns to the court for a home matchup with No. 73 Washington State on Friday at 1 p.m. The Matadors will wrap up the weekend with a Big West match at UC Irvine on Sunday at noon.
FIRST SERVE
CSUN returns to the court for the first time since March 9 when the Matadors completed a thrilling 4-3 come-from-behind win over Cal Poly at Matador Tennis Complex. The dual with Washington State on Friday will complete a five-match homestand, which has seen CSUN go 3-0 thus far and a match against Youngstown State canceled due to rain.
The Matadors will play for the first time on the road in Big West play on Sunday when they take on UC Irvine. CSUN is scheduled to return home on Tuesday, March 26 to host Chaminade and Westmont College.
LAST TIME OUT
CSUN picked up its second-straight Big West win on March 9 against Cal Poly. The Mustangs claimed a double point win to start, winning two of three, then notched two consecutive singles wins to open a 3-0 lead. Yuliia Zhytelna rallied from a set one loss to register CSUN's first win (1-6, 6-3, 6-4) before Victoria Santibañez Luna won a come-from-behind three setter 2-6, 6-0, 6-4. CSUN then received another three-set win when Angela Ho won 6-3, 1-6, 6-2. Emma Moratalla Sanz would clinch the win for CSUN with a tight 7-6, 7-6 win.

Emma Moratalla Sanz remains unbeaten in singles dual play this season with a 6-0 record while playing at No. 4. Yuliia Zhytelna is tied for second on the team with five wins against one loss, playing at No. 2, and Victoria Santibañez Luna holds a 5-2 record while competing at No. 3.
CSUN has gone 14-2 overall in doubles play as the Matadors lost their first double point of the season against Cal Poly. The Matadors' No. 1 tandem of Sasha Turchak and Zhytelna are 5-1 this season while Santibañez Luna and Ung are 5-1 and the tandem of Angela Ho and Elena Goodman are a perfect 4-0.
ABOUT WASHINGTON STATE
The Cougars are 9-5 overall on the season with a 1-3 record in Pac-12 play. Washington State is coming off a 4-2 win over Colorado on March 17. Last season, Washington State went 7-15 overall. Elyse Tse, the team's primary No. 6, leads the team with 11 dual wins at singles while Fifa Kumhom has 10 wins, playing mostly at No. 3. The team's No. 1 doubles duo of Tse and Eva Alvarez Sande are 10-2 this season.
Series History: CSUN leads WSU 2-1 in the all-time series, but the teams have not competed since the 2010 season. The Matadors are hosting the Cougars for the first time since the 2005 season when Washington State prevailed 4-3.
