CSUN Track & Field to Compete in Four Meets this Week

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUN Track & Field embarks on a busy week of action as the Matadors will split their roster and send student-athletes to four different meets over a three-day span starting Thursday.
CSUN will take part in two of Long Beach State's meets this week, starting with the Pacific Coast Invitational on Thursday while the Matadors will send a large group to compete at the Beach Invitational from Friday to Saturday. Also, CSUN will compete in a handful of distance events at Azusa Pacific's Bryan Clay Invitational from Friday to Saturday before wrapping up the weekend at the UCLA Invitational on Saturday.

LAST TIME OUT
CSUN sent a small contingent to the UC San Diego Triton Invitational last from April 5-6. The Matador throwers mainly competed in the invite while a small group participated in a handful of distance races.
Freshman Jocelyn Hoggard had one of the top showings on the weekend, finishing in fourth place in the shot put with a personal record toss of 12.52m (41-1). Treasure Brown, another freshman, was fifth in the discus with a toss of 42.23m (138-6). Other standouts on the women's side included Emily Hutchinson who was 11th in the shot put elite event with a toss of 14.35m (47-1) while she was 14th in the hammer throw with a PR of 47.36m (155-4).
On the men's side, Joseph Alipranti took seventh place in the hammer throw by tossing 59.02m (193-7) followed by Tylor Connelly in ninth place with a PR toss of 54.15m (177-8). Tui Edwin would be seventh in the shot put with a heave of 14.66m (48-1.25) while Santiago Cerda took ninth place with a toss of 14.41m (47-3.50). Elijah Ignacio finished in seventh place in the discus by tossing 50.00m (164-0) and Guillermo Lopez was ninth in the shot put elite with a throw of 16.14m (52-11.50).

After this week's meets, CSUN will compete in the Mt. SAC Relays from April 19-20.
